TBS Cancels Lopez Tonight

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- When Conan OBrien came to TBS, it prompted the network to move Lopez Tonight to midnight, but now, George Lopezs late night show is leaving the network for good. TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of Lopez Tonight, TBS said in a statement to Access Hollywood on Wednesday. The network confirmed that the show would end its run almost immediately. Thursday will be the final episode of the show. We are proud to have partnered with George Lopez, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer, the networks statement continued. TBS has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all of his work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air. It was not clear when Lopez, himself, learned the news. A rep for the comedian was not immediately available for comment on the news when contacted by Access Hollywood on Wednesday. According to the New York Times, TBS had been discussing cutting Lopezs show for months, as ratings began to dive. Ratings for Lopezs show have dropped to 250,000 viewers among the 18-49 demographic, according to New York Magazine. Meanwhile, OBriens ratings too are lower, at 700,000, across the same demo.
